Well, we’re a good week into October, so I guess there’s been more than enough time for me to reflect on September. (Better late than never, right?)
Last month was super exciting for me because I was accepted into my dream graduate program! I’ll be starting at the University of Melbourne in February, which is part of why I’m so late posting this Month in Review blog. I’ve got a lot of prep to do between sending all my documentation and payment to the university, applying for an Australian visa, planning my move, and making housing arrangements.
I’m busy, but it’s the best kind of busy.
Since I’m planning to move out, I’ve been doing my best to take advantage of opportunities to explore my home country/state/town. In September, I attended a friend’s wedding over Labor Day weekend, which also gave me the chance to explore and enjoy Charlevoix, MI.
Charlevoix is one of those lakeside towns in Michigan that has an insanely busy summer tourist season. Unlike some of my favorite towns, however, Charlevoix residents have a lot of money – I’m talking yachts, multimillion-dollar properties, and tons of tiny dogs. (Kid Rock reportedly has a giant lake house there, too.)
That’t not to say the riffraff can’t still enjoy themselves. I, for one, got an immense kick out of visiting a candy shop called The Taffy Barrel, where you can fill your basket with colorful, homemade saltwater taffies in every flavor from pumpkin pie to caramel apple.
Look at that happy camper.
Anyway, feel free to check out my posts from September:
Or not. You do you.
